Ronald Vlasic, GM of the Hotel Allegro, Named Chicago Hotelier
of the Year by the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association
CHICAGO, Nov. 18, 2003 Ronald L. Vlasic, general manager of the 483-room Hotel Allegro, recently was presented with the prestigious Chicago Hotelier of the Year Award from the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association as part of its annual Stars of the Industry program.  The award recognizes Mr. Vlasics achievements, contributions and leadership in the hospitality industry.

In addition to serving as the Hotel Allegros general manager, Mr. Vlasic is the director of operations for Chicago hotels for San Francisco-based Kimpton Boutique Hotels.  His transfer in 2001 to the Hotel Allegro returned the Chicagoland area native to his roots and put him in charge of Kimptons largest property.

Mr. Vlasic has helped create and launch a number of important programs.   As co-chair of Kimptons national Employee Satisfaction committee, he helped introduce a leadership mentoring program for staff earlier this year.  He also created the Hotel Allegros unique Lion King Suite as a salute to Disney whose musical is playing next door to the hotel.  In 2000 he co-created a Housekeeping Olympics to promote the talents and team spirit of the housekeeping staff that now involves all Kimpton hotels.

The Illinois Hotel & Lodging Associations Stars of the Industry program is the only state-wide employee recognition program for the hospitality industry, honoring the outstanding talent and performance of employees who go that extra mile to provide extraordinary service.  Mr. Vlasic now advances to the statewide competition for the Illinois Hotelier of the Year title, to be announced Dec. 17.

Located at 171 W. Randolph St. in Chicago, the Hotel Allegro opened March 1998 following an extensive and dramatic $30 million renovation of an existing 1920s building.  Unlike any other hotel in the Chicago area, the ambiance of the Allegro celebrates the citys rich musical, artistic and theatrical heritage.  Its decor features a mix of the classic and contemporary with preserved elements of the 77-year-old buildings original design and special finishes as well as deluxe, modern furniture, amenities and services.   www.allegrochicago.com
