Marriott's Updated Design Concepts Integral to Renovation
at Courtyard by Marriott in Chantilly, Virginia;
Tharaldson Enterprises Opening 142-room Fairfield Inn
& Suites by Marriott in Las Vegas, Nevada

 
WASHINGTON � October 25, 2003 � Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) announced that the 149-room Courtyard by Marriott in Chantilly, Va. has recently completed a major renovation of its guest rooms, lobby and public spaces.  The enhancements are based on feedback from hotel guests and are part of Courtyard�s nationwide hotel reinvention designed to meet the needs of today�s travelers. 
 
�Courtyard was launched based on the needs and desires of business travelers and now we are reinventing the brand on the basis of new customer research and recent product testing.  Our updated design concepts provide greater comfort and functionality to our guests,� said Courtyard senior vice president Chad Waetzig.

 as a 24/7 food market and business library, featuring individual workstations with high-speed data ports and ergonomic chairs combine with aesthetic elements including the use of curved surfaces, rich woods, designer fabrics, granite counters and superior lighting. 

Courtyard Guestroom Enhancements: 

Improved Workspace � A desk on wheels has been added to provide increased workspace.  The desk also doubles as a table that can be moved to eat or work in front of the TV.   In addition, new task lighting has been added and extra power outlets are conveniently located at desk level. 

New Beds and Linens � The new bedding package is more comfortable and more inviting with a thicker oversized mattress and enhanced linens, new comforters and oversized pillows. 

Bathroom Enhancements � The upgraded bathrooms have a modern, residential look with granite vanities, extra shelves, full-length mirrors, brighter lighting and louvered closet doors.

High-Speed Internet Access � Courtyard has made it a priority to offer travelers high-speed internet access.  Courtyard has more hotels installed with high-speed access than its nearest competitor even has hotels.  Courtyard Washington Dulles Airport - Chantilly also offers wireless internet access in the lobby and public spaces.

Courtyard has also redesigned its lobbies and public spaces.  In addition to the business library and pantry-style, 24-hour �grab and go� food and beverage area, a lounge area where guests can work, meet and dine in a relaxing setting has been added along with a wraparound front desk that allows more guest interaction and personalized service at check in and check out. 

Located five miles from Washington Dulles International Airport, the three-story hotel offers 137 guest rooms featuring either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds.  Along with the features mentioned above, guest rooms offer a seating area with sofa bed or oversized chair, two telephones, a coffee maker, hair dryer, iron with ironing board, and a selection of most-favored TV channels, including a free premium movie channel.  The Courtyard Washington Dulles Airport - Chantilly also features 12 suites with a king-size bed or two queen size beds, refrigerator and microwave oven.

Tharaldson Enterprises Opening 142-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Las Vegas, Nevada

Marriott International, Inc. is scheduled to open the 142-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Las Vegas, Nev. this November 2003.  Located at 5775 Industrial Road, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Las Vegas South will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Tharaldson Enterprises of Fargo, N.D. 

Located three miles from Las Vegas - McCarran International Airport, the hotel offers guests convenient access to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and the Freemont Street Experience.

An innovative new offering from Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites Las Vegas South features a variety of enhancements to guest rooms and public areas, as well as the addition of distinctively designed suites.  The signature �king suite� offers separate living and sleeping areas, pantry with coffee maker, mini-refrigerator and microwave, and a dividing wall with a 32-inch recessed television and state-of-the-art compact disc stereo system.  Additional in-room amenities include an ergonomic desk chair, hair dryer and two phones, with free local calls.

A complimentary continental breakfast is available each morning in the lobby area.  Other hotel amenities include an outdoor swimming pool with whirlpool spa, exercise room, valet laundry service and fax and copy service.  The hotel also offers one meeting room with 320 square feet of meeting space to accommodate small meetings and functions of up to 12 people.
