  Gerard P. Moser Appointed Executive Chef, The Gideon
Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., December 29, 2003 – The Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. has announced the appointment of Gerard P. Moser as executive chef. The announcement was made in the wake of the semi-retirement of Otto Korner, executive chef of the historic hotel for the past 33 years. Moser will begin duties immediately, and Korner will begin working as production chef with reduced hours in the hotel’s kitchens.

“This is a bittersweet announcement for us,” said Terry Leonbruno, food and beverage director of the hotel. “Otto is well-loved in the community, and his culinary artistry in the hotel’s Georgian Room is known by residents throughout the region. Otto clearly will be missed.  At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Gerard Moser, a chef with an impeccable resume and a commitment to innovative cuisine and first-class service.”

Chef Korner will spend his new-found non-working hours traveling to visit family in Germany, Montreal and the United States. He is also an avid soccer player and inline skater.

Chef Moser will oversee food and beverage operations in the Georgian Room, Saratoga Grille and Café in the Park. He previously was director of retail food service for Albany University. He also has been senior chef at several restaurants in the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Conference Center in Nashville; executive chef at Planet Hollywood in Nashville; and chef and owner/operator of the LaCasa Ristorante and Chesapeakes restaurant in Schroon Lake, N.Y. and the Putter Inn in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

He earned an A.O.S. degree in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park., N.Y. and an A.S. degree in business from the Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, N.Y.

The Gideon Putnam Hotel & Conference Center is situated in the 2,300-acre Saratoga Spa State Park, a National Historic Landmark District. Today, the Georgian Revival period hotel features 120 guest rooms and suites, a Conference Center, a Grand Ballroom with space for up to 500 guests, a fine-dining restaurant and three private dining areas.
