Landmark Hotel Boasts New Distinctive Style

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (July 29, 2003) --- The Radisson Kingsley Hotel in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., has just completed an $8 million hotel renovation.  The $25 million hotel, located along Oakland County's main boulevard Woodward Avenue is a three-story, boutique hotel with 150 rooms, a four-star seafood restaurant and New York style deli, fitness facility, indoor pool, and meeting facilities.  The Radisson Kingsley Hotel, which employs approximately 40 associates, marks the 450th hotel milestone for Radisson Hotels & Resorts.  The hotel is professionally managed by Waterford Hotel Group, Inc., a national hotel management firm based in Waterford, Connecticut.

The comprehensive renovation project, which included the hotel exterior, landscape, lobby, public areas, banquet facilities and guest rooms, has transformed the 39-year-old hotel into a stylish, inviting and new property.  While it will carry the Radisson name, it will maintain an intimate, warm and sophisticated boutique atmosphere with a design that reflects the history and locale of the community.

The award winning local design firm of Ford & Earl Associates drew inspiration from the heritage of nearby Cranbrook Academy of Art renowned for its high quality of design and education.  In the tradition of artist Eliel Saarinen [the Academy's designer and first president] clean lines and earth tones are recalled in the geometric and organic patterns used in carpet, wall coverings, paint, window treatment, bedding and custom designed guest room furniture.  New art work based upon the grounds and architecture of Cranbrook further enhances the theme.

"The Radisson Kingsley Hotel is an excellent milestone property for the brand and showcases the high quality product and service standards our hotels need to maintain to satisfy the needs of today's well-traveled customers," said Bjørn Gullaksen, executive vice president of Full-Service Hotels for Carlson Hotels Worldwide and brand leader for Radisson Hotels & Resorts.  "The hotel is strategically located in an upscale suburb of Detroit in one of the most affluent counties in the nation and is a valuable addition to our portfolio of hotels where our customers travel for business and pleasure."

The hotel is owned by a partnership of affiliates of Connecticut-based Waterford Group, LLC and Michigan-based Slavik, Inc.  The owners bring several decades of professional experience to the project, including commercial and residential development, construction expertise, and hotel development and management. Waterford Hotel Group currently operates 29 properties in 11 states, representing more than 3,300 hotel rooms nationwide.

Slavik Builders of Rochester Hills, Michigan, served as general contractor for the renovation of the Radisson Kingsley Hotel.  Together with the Slavik Company they have more than 30 years of building and development experience; most notably the renovation of the Marriott Residence Inn, outside of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

"Our fresh look goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to quality and guest service," said Len Wolman, Chairman and CEO of Waterford Hotel Group, Inc. "We're excited about continuing our tradition of excellence.  Waterford Hotel Group is thrilled to operate and reinvest in the Bloomfield Hills community by offering the highest quality hotel product."

The Waterford Hotel Group has experience operating virtually every type of hotel property, including limited services properties, all-suite hotels, conference centers, and large full service and resort properties.

Radisson Hotels & Resorts® currently has 450 locations in 61 countries.
