for Somerset Golf Club; Plans Include a Hawthorn Suites Golf Resort Hotel |
Atlanta, Georgia (April, 2003) Lighthouse Golf
Group, Atlanta-based golf management, development, and brokerage company,
has signed a management agreement with Somerset Education Foundation for
Somerset Golf Club in Locust Grove, Virginia. Under the agreement,
Lighthouse will provide complete management services for the 18-hole golf
club.
Situated 15 miles west of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Somerset Golf Club was originally built in 1996 and is currently undergoing extensive course renovation to all of its greens, tees, bunkers and several complete holes. Architect Rick Robbins of Robbins & Associates, Inc., Cary, NC, completed the redesign and is overseeing the extensive renovations being done by Links Construction of Palm City, Florida. The course features Blue/Rye tees and fairways with fescue roughs and bentgrass greens and is due to reopen in Summer 2003. Valley Crest Golf Course Maintenance has been contracted to perform the grow-in, and maintenance services for the facility. Plans call for the construction of a Hawthorn Suites Golf Resort Hotel and Conference Center at the facility with a projected opening in 2004. With the extensive renovation work being completed on the golf course coupled with the addition of the Hawthorn Suites complex, we feel the facility will be well prepared to prosper and add a great asset to the rapidly-growing area south of metro DC. We are very excited to be working with Hawthorn Suites Golf Resorts and Valley Crest Golf Course Maintenance and to be a part of this fine facility and the greater Fredericksburg area, said Arthur Jeffords, President of Lighthouse Golf Group. |
