   RIU Opens Sixth Property in Mexico,
the 569 room Riu Cancun

June 17, 2003 - The 5-star Riu Cancun has been inaugurated in the Mexican Caribbean coast, in the emblematic city of Cancun.
 
This beachfront property features 569 well-appointed guestrooms with breathtaking vistas. It offers the All-Inclusive plan that allows guests to dine in two theme restaurants: a Grill-steakhouse and a Brazilian Rodizio.  In addition, the hotel provides state-of-the-art facilities such as gym, sauna, Jacuzzi, and 3 outdoor swimming pools.

This is the sixth RIU property in Mexico and the chain's 103, which is already established 


Hotel Riu Cancun 
in 11 countries. The hotel is also the first RIU property in Cancun; the other five are located in Playa del Carmen (Riu Yucatan, ClubHotel Riu Tequila, Riu Palace Mexico and Riu Playacar) and Puerto Vallarta (ClubHotel Riu Jalisco).

With six hotels in Mexico, RIU increases its total room capacity to 3,270 rooms.
RIU inaugurated its first hotel in Mexico, the Riu Yucatan, in August 1997 and has opened one hotel per year since then.
