AUSTIN, TEXAS; June 9, 2003 Hospitality Financial
and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is now accepting nominations for
the prestigious Paragon Award, which recognizes individuals who have made
a significant and lasting contribution to both HFTP and the hospitality
industry. Since 1999, six people have been recognized with a Paragon Award,
and continuing with the tradition, HFTP will honor this years winner(s)
at the 2003 Annual Convention & Tradeshow in Orlando, Fla.
HFTP wouldnt be where it is today without the support of its numerous, dedicated volunteers, said Wendy Zurstadt, CPA, CHAE, CHTP, the chair of the Paragon Award council and the 2002-2003 HFTP president. It is important to recognize those who have acted extraordinarily towards the development of the association as well as creating a legacy in the hospitality industry. Paragon Award nominees can be HFTP members, representatives of industry-related association, societies or trade publications; or leaders from hospitality businesses, educational institutions and other related disciplines. Past Paragon Award recipients include Alice Banks, CHAE; Henry Buddy Weeks, CHAE; Katherine Cavanagh, CHAE; Frank Santos; Ray Schmidgall, Ph.D., CPA, CHAE; and Frank Wolfe, CAE. To be eligible for selection, a person must first be nominated by someone who has worked with or is familiar with the nominated individuals work in HFTP and the nomination must then be seconded and accompanied by three supporting letters of recommendation. No more than two of the nominators/recommendation writers can be from the same employer, association (other than HFTP), educational institution, etc. A panel of industry experts selects the award winner(s).
