The Best Developers, the Best Deals and the
Best Conversions within Hilton Hotels
Corp's Full-Service Brands Named
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - April 9, 2003 -- Hilton(R), Doubletree(R) and Embassy Suites Hotels(R) brands recognized the top hotel development projects of 2002 during Hilton Hotels Corporation's Full-Service Brand Conference held March 18-21 in New Orleans. Ten hotel development awards in total were presented in five distinct categories. In addition, a Connie Award (named after company founder Conrad N. Hilton) was presented to the largest owner of Embassy Suites Hotels and Doubletree Guest Suites properties.

"Each of our three full-service brands is thrilled to recognize their respective award recipients as a way to express appreciation for the owners' brand loyalty and overall dedication to excellence, from the design stage to post-opening." 
    
DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR 
    
Each brand recognized a Developer of the Year for the developer who developed one or more unique hotels that helped enhance a brand's image in 2002. To be considered, all hotels in the candidates' Hilton Family portfolio had to be rated high-quality and in good status, and could represent a combination of new projects, renovations and conversions. 

The recipients of the Developer of the Year award were: 

HILTON -- FaulknerUSA 
FaulknerUSA is being recognized for developing two outstanding downtown headquarters convention hotels -- the 800-room Hilton Austin and the 450-room Hilton Omaha, both of which are expected to open to business guests and meeting attendees during 2004. 
  
DOUBLETREE -- Orsini Brothers Inns, Inc. 
Orsini Brothers Inns, Inc. is developing the first Canadian Doubletree hotel, the 224-room Doubletree Resort Lodge & Spa Fallsview, which is expected to welcome guests by mid-Summer. 
  
EMBASSY SUITES HOTELS -- Aventura Development, LLC 
Aventura Development LLC is developing the upscale Embassy Suites Aventura, a 170-suite hotel being constructed in a high-profile, urban community in South Florida, scheduled to open during the second half of 2005. 
  
DEAL OF THE YEAR 

Three Hilton, Doubletree and Embassy Suites Hotels owners were presented awards for the Deal of the Year which recognize the tremendous commitment of time and effort many owners devoted to building a hotel. 

The recipients of the Deal of the Year award were: 

HILTON -- CNL Hospitality Corporation 
The Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, which joined the Hilton Family in December 2002, offers 428 newly-remodeled guest rooms and casitas, more than 100,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space and has been awarded the AAA Four Diamond Award more times (19 consecutive years) than any other hotel or resort in the state of Arizona. 
  
DOUBLETREE -- Key Hospitality & Healthcare 
The Doubletree Grand Key Resort in Key West, Florida was opened as an independent luxury resort in July 2000. The resort has enjoyed a position of being the newest and among the finest luxury resorts in a top resort market. In August 2002 the 216-room full-service resort proudly joined the Doubletree family. 
  
EMBASSY SUITES HOTELS -- John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc. 
The 250-suite Embassy Suites Hotel Hot Springs in Arkansas will be conveniently connected to the Hot Springs Convention Center via an overhead, all-weather walkway. Designed by John Q. Hammons Hotels, this upscale Embassy Suites Hotel will boast a contemporary architectural style that complements the design of the convention center, scheduled to open during the fourth quarter of 2005. 
  
INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AWARD

One owner was presented the International Development Award which recognizes an outstanding dedication by a non-U.S. owner to develop a full-service hotel and join the Hilton Family of Hotels. 
    
The recipient of the International Development Award For 2002 is Golden Inn Hotel, C.A. -- The 200-suite Embassy Suites Hotel Valencia, located at the Urbanizacion El Vinedo in Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela, will open during the first half of 2005 and feature seven interconnecting conference rooms as well as a heated swimming pool, whirlpool, exercise room and access to a popular local boutique. 

BEST CONVERSION OF THE YEAR 

The Hilton and Doubletree brands also presented awards for Best Conversion of the Year to two owners who made a considerable investment of time and effort to convert their hotels which ended up exceeding each of the respective brand's expectations.

The recipients of the Best Conversion of the Year award were: 

HILTON -- Tarsadia Hotels 
In 2002, Tarsadia Hotels completed a multi-million dollar renovation on the historic Checkers Hotel in preparation for its conversion to a Hilton at year-end. This 188-room, 12-story hotel  property marked the Hilton brand's return to downtown Los Angeles.  Built in 1927 and listed on the National Historic Register, the Hilton Checkers Los Angeles blends contemporary elegance with an intimate, historic ambiance. 
  
DOUBLETREE -- Biltmore Farms, Inc. 
The Doubletree Hotel Asheville-Biltmore is located at the gateway of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in scenic Western North Carolina. Located adjacent to a local landmark -- the Biltmore Dairy Bar, this 160-room full-service hotel welcomes guests with a beautifully landscaped Garden Terrace Courtyard, an outdoor venue used for special events and celebrations. 

MOST UNIQUE DESIGN 

Embassy Suites Hotels also recognized one of its developers with a Most Unique Design award for exceeding architectural standards in order to achieve aesthetic excellence and better blend into an environment. 

The recipient of the Most Unique Design award is the Niagara 21st Group, Inc. -- An organization instrumental in re-developing the Niagara Falls area, Niagara 21st Group, Inc. has developed and designed the 512-suite, 41-story Embassy Suites Hotel Niagara Falls -- the tallest in Niagara Falls and the largest in the 
Embassy Suites Hotels brand -- scheduled to open in July 2003. 

CONNIE AWARD 

Hilton Hotels Corporation also presented a Connie Award to a developer/owner who has demonstrated phenomenal commitment to the Hilton Family of Hotels and consummate dedication to operating quality hotels within the Hilton Family. 

The recipient of the 2002 Connie Award for Development is Thomas J. Corcoran, Jr., president and CEO -- FelCor Lodging Trust. With 169 hotels in its portfolio, FelCor is the nation's second largest Real Estate Investment Trust and the largest owner of upscale, all-suite hotels, including Embassy Suites Hotels and Doubletree Guest Suites(R) hotels. FelCor Lodging Trust has 82 properties that are members of the Hilton Family of Hotels.
