Northern Territory Hotel Market, Acquires the Carlton Hotel Darwin |
Brisbane, March 5, 2003 � Jones Lang LaSalle
Hotels is pleased to announce the sale of the 197 room Carlton Hotel Darwin
to BG Investment Holdings, an investment company of the Berger family.
Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels� Executive Vice President Mike Batchelor negotiated
the deal.
The Berger family is a long-term investor in the Northern Territory hotel market, owning the recently rebranded Crowne Plaza Hotels in Darwin and Alice Springs since 1992. Carlton Group Management regards the sale of the Carlton Hotel Darwin to be in line with the Group�s new strategic direction, which is to focus on its landmark CBD hotel portfolio in Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Parramatta, Sydney and Singapore. Until the transfer to BG Investment Holdings, the Carlton Hotel Darwin will continue to conduct its business as usual. At settlement, BG Investment Holdings will, in accordance with the sale contract, honour all supply, services, occupancy, building, management and maintenance agreements which have been entered into by the Carlton Group in relation to the Carlton Hotel Darwin, before the contract date.
