HOTEL SCHOOL INTERCONTINENTAL OPENS NEW FACILITIES
New facilities at The Hotel School InterContinental have been opened
by the recently appointed General Manager of Hotel InterContinental Sydney,
Mr. Tony Zamora.
The expanded campus will be divided into two sections, a teaching and learning centre in The Hotel School main campus in Macquarie Street and a new administration centre on the corner of Macquarie and Bridge Streets. The expansion and upgrade of The Hotel School is part of a global US $1billion program being undertaken by Six Continents Hotels, which will include major refurbishment of Hotel InterContinental Sydney said Mr. Zamora. The Hotel School makes a valued contribution to the Hotel, not only in terms of revenue but, more importantly, as an invaluable human resources source, producing graduates of exceptional professional quality from Certificate in Hotel Management level through to Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management graduates and, from September, MBA in Hotel Management graduates. This helps us reduce staff recruitment costs and turnover. According to Director Mr. Peter Lewis: The Hotel School is anticipating significant continuing growth and Intercontinental has renewed its commitment to us and our ongoing expansion, including making provision for increased space in the future. Established in 1989, The Hotel School is a joint venture between Hotel InterContinental Sydney and Southern Cross University School of Tourism & Hospitality Management. It is unique in hospitality education in Australia - an integral, working component of a 5 star international hotel and offering degree qualifications taught by full time lecturers from both the School and the University. It was the winner of the NSW Tourism Award of the Decade for Industry Training, Private Sector at the end of its first 10 years of operation. |
