 The Silicon Valley Conference Center, Owned by Novell, Inc,
Now Managed by Benchmark Hospitality

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS, October 31, 2002 ... Benchmark Hospitality has announced that it will assume management of the Silicon Valley Conference Center, located in San Jose, California, effective November 1, 2002.  Burt Cabañas, chairman and chief executive officer of Benchmark, made the announcement, saying, �We welcome this excellent conference center into the Benchmark family of properties.  It brings our presence in California to four superb facilities, and complements our ability to serve customers in this important market.�

The Silicon Valley Conference Center is a day meeting facility that includes 12,000 square feet of conference space.   The technologically advanced and strategically located property is close to the San Jose International Airport and five miles north of downtown San Jose. It is easily accessible by the Valley Transportation Authority's airport shuttle and Light Rail.

Owned and originally developed by Novell, Inc., as an internal-use facility, the Silicon Valley Conference Center is now an open-market property, which includes 17 state-of-the-art meeting rooms seating up to 500 attendees theater-style.  The center offers complete conference support services.  Novell will continue as a client of the conference center.

The conference center features the most advanced meeting technology available.  This includes High-speed T1 and Wireless Internet Access, Ku, C Band and Direct TV Satellite Broadcast Reception, onsite audiovisual production, multi-point videoconferencing, Internet Webcasting, and more.  The center also offers sports courts for corporate teambuilding programs.

The Bon Appetit Management Company, located in Palo Alto, California, had a pre-existing role as manager for the overall food and beverage operations at the larger Novell campus.  Benchmark will partner with Bon Appetit to manage the onsite food and beverage program for the conference center and Benchmark will be responsible for the management and marketing of all conference center operations.
