 CHICAGO,
IL – November 20, 2002 – Michael Wathen, 43, once again takes the management
reigns at the 161-room Claridge Hotel. He returns to the role after
overseeing the opening and serving as general manager for the new Comfort
Inn & Suites in Chicago’s River North district.
The Indiana University marketing grad has spent most of his career at the Claridge Hotel. After beginning his hospitality career in food and beverage in California, the Chicago native returned home and found his place at the Claridge Hotel. Wathen first served as a sales manager in 1987, and worked his way up the ranks to become general manager nine years later. Wathen maintains an active role in the community through civic organizations including the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau, and the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association. The Claridge Hotel, celebrating its 77th anniversary in 2003, is located on an elegant tree-lined street in Chicago’s famed Gold Coast neighborhood. |
