MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - May 9, 2002-- Island Outpost, a group of unique and exceptional hotel properties in Miami Beach, the Bahamas and Jamaica, today announced it will merge with Acacia Hotels and Resorts, a development, management and marketing company. Jona Liebrecht, Island Outpost's current President, will shift his focus to hotel operations, as Head of Operations.

With this senior management team and the resources and expertise of Acacia, Island Outpost will be able to expand its portfolio of extraordinary destinations and continue to improve the guest experience. Guiding this evolution is the original vision of Island entertainment entrepreneur Chris Blackwell, of developing each property with a keen attention to its distinct personality, while maintaining the distinguishing characteristics of location, service, and integration into the local environment that has defined the Island Outpost brand.

The new company will continue Acacia's development plans under the Island Outpost brand, as well as focus on expanding Island Outpost's core portfolio.

Chris Blackwell commented, "With the combined resources of Island Outpost and Acacia, our guests will be able to experience and share some of the most magical locations in the world, with superlative service and extraordinary amenities. I am delighted to see Bill and Bruce come on board."

William Anderson added, "The shared goal of Acacia and Island Outpost is to develop and deliver a unique lifestyle-based experience to our guests. I have always had a profound respect for Chris Blackwell and his team, and it will be a privilege and a pleasure for Bruce Campbell and I to undertake this exciting collaboration."
