G. Michael Thomas, CHA, Named President of 
Barton Creek Resort by The Pinehurst Company

VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. (November, 2001) The Pinehurst Company has announced the appointment of G. Michael Thomas, CHA, as President of Barton Creek Resort.

Mr. Thomas comes to Barton Creek from Daufuskie Island Resort, where he has served as President since 1998.  The Pinehurst Company announced last week that it will transition Daufuskie Island Resort and Country Club into a private club with limited facilities beginning December 11, 2001.  Mr. Thomas will take his new post at Barton Creek December 1, 2001.

Prior to his joining The Pinehurst Company, Michael Thomas had built a stellar track record and reputation in high profile executive roles with several of America�s leading luxury resorts.  He served as President and General Manager of The Tides, including The Tides Inn, The Tides Lodge and Tides Marina just off the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.  He was General Manager of Miami�s exclusive Fisher Island Club, Vice-President and General Manager of Florida�s Hammock Dunes/Palm Coast Resort and General Manager of the famed Sawgrass Resort.  Mr. Thomas also was Vice-President and General Manager of the Virginia Beach Resort & Conference Center.  His distinguished career has also included stints at Sea Pines Resort in South Carolina and Virginia�s Wintergreen Resort.
