Stanford Hotels Group Developing 600 Room Convention
Hotel Adjacent to San Francisco Airport
SAN FRANCISCO - July 20, 2001-- Stanford Hotels of San Francisco is pleased to announce plans to develop a 600-room, First Class Convention Hotel in Burlingame, California, adjacent to the San Francisco International Airport, which will be located on the bay front next to its 404-room Sheraton Gateway Hotel.

Stanford Hotels plans to develop a 12-story building with 600 guest rooms, luxury penthouse suites, two restaurants, European spa and health club facilities. A special feature of the property will be its 30,000 sq. ft. of convention meeting space including a 14,000 sq. ft. grand ballroom - all on one level. Hotel plans have been submitted to the City for environmental and planning reviews, which should be completed in the first quarter of 2002. Stanford is talking to a number of leading franchisors in order to select the appropriate brand so as to ensure market leadership in the San Francisco Mid-Peninsula area.

The Stanford Hotels Group recently purchased the site to develop it as a long term hotel investment, serving the Mid-Peninsula convention demands and the expanding San Francisco International Airport.  "This site is one of the last remaining freehold waterfront parcels with impressive unobstructed views of the San Francisco Bay and with a walking path along the waterfront," commented Clyde Guinn, Senior Vice President of the Group. He went on to say, "corporate and social customers will enjoy the natural and unspoiled setting of the area. We are enthusiastic about bringing our management and development experience to the forefront and creating a truly exciting and superior first-class property, from the ground up."

Another major development plan in progress by the Group, in the San Francisco Bay Area, is a new four star 430-room bay front hotel located in downtown San Francisco at Embarcadero and Broadway.

Stanford Hotels Corporation is a mid-size, owner-operated company that specializes in the ownership, development and management of high quality, full service hotels using a variety of franchise brands. The corporate office is located in downtown San Francisco; however, Stanford's 17 properties with 4,300 guestrooms span 6 time zones throughout the U.S. and comprise seven of the top global brands including Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Radisson.
