13 Aug 2001 - The HR&IM program at the University
of Delaware has a new Master of Science degree in Hospitality Information
Management beginning fall 2001.
The goal is to first develop students
for successful careers as corporate hospitality information managers (for
example with Marriott International and ARAMARK Corporation), and as hospitality
implementation professionals. The amount of technology systems in
a hotel front desk and guest rooms and in restaurants is complex and growing.
At the recent AH&LA conference in Chicago the career of even "IT hotel
concierge" was discussed - as guests will demand and expect assistance
with the assortment of technology they bring and use at the hotel, says
Frederick J. DeMicco, Professor and Chair at the University of Delaware. |

The degree will also offer professional level instruction for current hospitality
managers seeking to further their education by applying technology solutions
in hospitality operation settings.
It is also designed to provide students interested in future doctoral
work in hospitality and tourism management a sound foundation towards this
goal.
The University of Delaware was rated a top "wired" campus in America
by Yahoo Magazine in 2000 along with Carnegie-Mellon. All applications
will be web based and electronic. |
