PHOENIX, Ariz., June 26, 2001 - Ronda Trog, director of North American reservations and Tim Matias, operations agent at Best Western International were recently awarded for outstanding performance by the International Association of Reservation Executives.  Trog won the Manager of Excellence Award, while Matias took honors with the Staff Member Excellence Award.

Trog, a 25-year employee of the worlds largest hotel brand, has been instrumental in opening central reservation offices for Best Western around the world including sites in Wichita, Kan.; Frankfurt, Germany; Dublin, Ireland and Sydney, Australia.

Trog began her career with Best Western in 1976 as a reservation sales agent at the companys Phoenix, Ariz.  headquarters.  Throughout her career with the company, Trog has held numerous positions such as lead sales agent, team supervisor, customer relations supervisor, supervisor of technical and reservations training and reservations manager.

In 1997, Trog received the Helmsman Award and has since been elected chairperson of the Phoenix Chapter of Goodwill Industries.

Stationed at Best Western Internationals Wichita Consolidated Reservations Office, Matias has a unique position at the operations desk where colleagues describe him as a patient and friendly person. He helps staff with computing issues, shows them the right direction and handles busy phone lines.

Matias also maintains targeted telephone service levels using efficient staffing control and call volume distribution between Best Westerns three North American sites.  He constantly monitors volume and staffing trends and makes effective recommendations for call distribution or staffing changes.

He ensures that new members are fully trained, arranges staff meetings, keeps management informed of issues affecting the operations area and initiates the use of additional scheduling reports that were not utilized before.

Were extremely proud of the contributions made by Ronda and Tim on a daily basis, said Jim Evans, president and CEO for Best Western.  Their long-time dedication to Best Western and phenomenal work ethic is a model for all of our employees to follow.
