  John Shigley Named President of Caesars Palace 
Las Vegas, Replacing Dean Harrold

 
LAS VEGAS - March 6, 2001--Park Place Entertainment Corp. (NYSE:PPE) today announced the promotion of John Shigley to president, Caesars Palace.
Shigley is a 15-year casino industry veteran, having spent 13 years at Caesars Palace and Park Place in a variety of senior management roles, most recently as executive vice president of Caesars Palace.  Shigley replaces Dean Harrold, who left the position last month.

In his new position, Shigley will report to Mark Dodson, co-chief operating officer of Park Place and president of its Western Casino Group.

In making the announcement, Dodson said: �We are fortunate to have a person with John�s broad range of talent and experience to take on this major responsibility. He is not only an excellent manager of people, but more importantly, he has a true understanding of what the name �Caesars Palace� means to both our players and our team members.

�He played a critical role in the integration process following our acquisition of Caesars in 1999, and he has been a leader in the development and execution of our master plan to restore the luster of Caesars Palace.�

Commenting on his new role, Shigley stated: �Caesars Palace has long set the standard for quality, service and excitement unparalleled in the gaming industry. 

�During my career at Caesars, I have been honored to be associated with people who are unquestionably the industry�s finest. I am proud to work with them to continue rebuilding the grandeur that has always been associated with the best brand in gaming�Caesars Palace.�

Shigley�s appointment as president completes the new senior management team at Caesars Palace.  He joins 

  • Jon Jaggers, executive vice president-Casino Marketing and Casino Operations; 
  • George Markantonis, senior vice president-Hotel Operations; and 
  • David Sisk, chief financial officer.
