Chef Aid brings Tulsa chefs, restaurants together for tornado-relief fundraiser (Tulsa World, Okla.)

By Scott Cherry, Tulsa World, Okla.McClatchy-Tribune Regional News

June 07--Some of Tulsa's top chefs and about 35 local restaurants are teaming to hold a fundraiser for young tornado victims June 22 at Tulsa Convention Center.

Chef Aid, conducted in cooperation with Tulsa Community Foundation, will benefit children affected by the recent Oklahoma tornadoes.

The dinner, beginning at 6:30 p.m., will include food, wine, beer and live music for the all-inclusive cost of $75 per person. The event also will include a silent auction.

Chef Aid is being spearheaded by chefs Eli Huff, Salt Food Group; Michael Fusco, Fusco's Catering; Devin Levine, SMG, and Kenny Wagoner, Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

"I took food to Moore after the first round of tornadoes, and I didn't realize how bad it really was until I got there," Huff said. "When I got back I started thinking that there must be something Tulsa chefs and restaurants could do to help.

"I talked to Michael, Devin and Kenny, who all said they wanted to help, then the Tulsa Convention Center came on board. We decided we wanted to specifically help the children, and that's where Tulsa Community Foundation came in. They know how to do that."

Major sponsors include Staples, Salt Food Group, BOK Center, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, SMG and Tulsa Convention Center. Other sponsors so far include Ben E. Keith Co. and US Foods.

Corporate tables of 10 people each are available for $2,000 a table. Call 918-808-8074 to reserve a corporate table.
