Theft of car at hotel car park

Someone did sue us over a car stolen from our open FREE parking lot. He lost. In Canada at least, an hotel's parking lot is not required to be MORE secure than the street. We do take precautions but since the parking is free we can not be held responsible. If we charged for parking, that's another thing.
